First Guide: Automating Terrariums
9 March 2017
Anyone who’s ever thought of building a carnivorous plant terrarium would do well to check out my new guide: How to Build A Terrarium Controller with Raspberry Pi.
This is the first of many guides I’ll be launching on the site. It was originally written for my personal blog, but I’ve now moved it here and expanded it considerably so that it’s accessible to a wider audience of growers.
As you’ll see, the tutorial explains how you can use the Raspberry Pi - a cheap single-board computer which is made here in the UK but is available worldwide - to intelligently monitor the conditions inside your terrarium and adjust them automatically. Whether you’re growing cape sundews or tropical pitcher plants, this can provide a more stable environment than you can ever hope to achieve using regular timers.
All the code for this project is available for free on GitHub. Thanks, and happy growing!
