I've been growing a wide variety of carnivorous plants for over 2 decades. I got my first Venus flytrap at age 10 and now have an entire greenhouse full of carnivores.

Welcome to Tom’s Carnivores.

Whether you’re a long-time greenhouse grower or simply curious about Venus flytraps, I hope to make this website your go-to place for growing guides, book reviews, resources and photos. From pitchers to sundews, monkey cups to cobra lilies, we’ll cover carnivorous plants of every kind.

Things are a little sparse at the moment, but that will soon change. The site’s first guides are launching imminently - this section will be home to a range of interactive tools and full-length tutorials, useful to growers worldwide. Here on the blog, you can expect to find regular growing tips, FAQs, interviews and photo showcases.

I am developing the site continuously, so you can expect to see features which are currently missing - like comments, RSS feeds, and so on - to appear in due course. If you spot any bugs (of the technical kind, obviously), please send me an email.

I’m also actively looking for contributors, photographers, and people to collaborate with. Whether you’d like to work together on a new guide, have a question you’d like answered on the blog, or if you want to showcase your collection and growing setup in a gallery, please get in touch.

Thanks, and happy growing!

I've been growing carnivorous plants for over 2 decades, having been fascinated by these plants since I got my first Venus flytrap at age 10. I now have a large greenhouse to house my collection and am an avid breeder of Nepenthes pitcher plants.
